Lemari kayu berkaca besar mengambil tempat cukup banyak di ruangan kamar yang disewa Fernandes Chintya Maramis, Ketua Himpunan Waria Solo (Hiwaso). Di dalam lemari itu tertata rapi belasan tas tiruan merek terkenal mulai Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Prada hingga Chanel. Semua tas dalam kondisi terawat dengan busa di bagian dalam agar bentuk tasnya tak berubah.
Di sebelah lemari tas, Chintya menaruh satu lagi satu lemari kecil. Kali ini perabot itu ia gunakan untuk menyimpan koleksi sepatu yang jumlahnya tak kalah banyak dengan koleksi tas. Warna dan motifnya pun bermacam-macam meski kentara Chintya penggemar berat high heel.

Chintya menunjukkan sebuah foto keluarga. Anak perempuan yang dulunya kecil kini sudah menjadi besar. “Sekarang sudah SD. Cepat sekali ya. Dia sekarang tinggal di rumah Jebres karena kalau tinggal bersama saya di kontrakan ini lingkungannya tidak bagus. Tahu sendiri kan bagaimana lingkungan dekat terminal,” tambah dia.
Chintya menyewa seorang pengasuh, Menyekolahkan anak, menutup kebutuhan bulanan, butuh biaya tak sedikit. Gaji bulanan pasangan yang berprofesi sebagai juru parkir (jukir) jauh dari kata cukup.
Menyiasatinya, Chintya membuka bisnis jual-beli tas, baju hingga sepatu kecil-kecilan. Dianggap rekan-rekannya memiliki selera fashion yang lumayan, dagangan Chintya pun laris manis. Susahnya, kebanyakan waria berasal dari golongan ekonomi menengah ke bawah. Bisnis itu dijalankan dengan sistem kredit dengan beberapa kali pembayaran.
Meski tak mengenyam pendidikan tinggi, Chintya tahu betul pendidikan tinggi sangat dibutuhkan anak angkatnya agar tak hidup seperti yang dia alami saat ini. Oleh sebab itulah Chintya menyiapkan tabungan pendidikan supaya sang anak kelak bisa menempun pendidikan tinggi dan membuat bangga dirinya.
“Sebenarnya sekarang ini pun saya sudah sangat bangga kepada anak saya. Berkali-kali diejek temannya karena punya ibu waria, anak saya itu sama sekali tak pernah merasa minder. Sejak kecil dia punya rasa percaya diri yang sangat besar. Satu lagi yang membuat saya bahagia adalah kasih sayangnya kepada saya.”
