Sebelumnya Firth  pada tahun 2009 juga pernah membintangi film berjudul “a single man”.  Yang bercerita  tentang seorang dosen gay.  Pada film tersebut Firth gagal memboyong piala Oscar kepangkuannya, Moga saja Film Mad Dog mampu membawa Piala Oscar kembali kepangkuanya seperti dalam film “King’s Speech”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Firth will portray the often flamboyant entertainer in a film that follows Coward’s two week-stint as an unlikely Las Vegas headliner in 1955. Coward ended up working at the Desert Inn after Liberace canceled a booking. Coward took the job because he owed taxes to the British government. The title comes from a song Coward wrote in the early 1930s famous for the line “Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.”

Firth won an Oscar as best actor for playing King George in 2010’s The King’s Speech and was previously nominated for portraying a thinly-veiled version of late gay writer Christopher Isherwood in 2009’s A Single Man. He previously played a gay character in 2008’s Mamma Mia! and starred in the LGBT-themed 1984 drama Another Country.
