Album ini merupakan kolaborasi dengan duo elektro asal Australia Pnau dan menyajikan katalog karya lama Elthon dari 1970, refashioned menjadi delapan lagu baru.
Lagu ini langsung menduduki posisi di nomor satu, menabrak dari penyanyi-penulis lagu Newton Faulkner dalam album Write It On Your Skin.
Sukses terakhir Elthon yang serupa adalah pada bulan November 1990 dengan album hits terbesar, The Very Best of Elton John.
Elthon telah keluar sejak pertengahan tahun 70-an tapi dia bergabung di puncak tangga lagu dengan pendatang baru sebagai gay – penyanyi R & B Frank Ocean yang menelurkan album Oranye tergelincir satu tempat ke posisi nomor tiga.
Saat ini Elton sedang sibuk mempersiapkan diri untuk menjadi pembicara kunci pada Konferensi AIDS Internasional di Washington hari ini (23 Juli).
Tahun ini menandai ulang tahun ke 20-nya Elton John AIDS Foundation yang telah meningkatkan hampir 200 Juta Pounsterling atau sekitar 2.85 trillyun rupiah yang didirikannya sejak tahun 1992.
Tapi pria berusia 65 tahun ini mengatakan kepada surat kabar The Sun kalau ia memiliki kegelisahan tentang pidatonya.
“Konferensi ini sangat penting,” katanya kepada The Sun. ‘Saya telah melakukan beberapa draft dari pidato saya dan sekarang saya hanya membuat beberapa penyesuaian. The singer has been out since the mid 70s but he’s joined at the top of the charts by a newcomer to being openly gay – R&B singer Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange album slipped one place to number three.
Meanwhile Elton is preparing to be keynote speaker at the International AIDS Conference in Washington today (23 July).
This year marks the 20th anniversary of his Elton John AIDS Foundation which has raised almost £200million ($310million €257million) since being founded in 1992.
But the 65-year-old told the Sun newspaper he had the jitters about his speech.
‘This conference is very important,’ he told the Sun. ‘I’ve done a few drafts of my speech and now I’m just making a few adjustments. It’s quite intimidating – I’ve made speeches before but this is the most important one I’ve ever done.
‘Then after that I’m taking a whole month off.’
